My daddy found out he had a "mass" on his thyroid around March of this year (maybe earlier, can't remember). Anyway, he has been bounced around the V.A. for several months until FINALLY they did surgery on this mass and found it was exactly what they originally thought it was: Cancer. Well there is a surprise! (They stink!)
They removed the whole thyroid and seven lymphnodes last Tuesday and sent them to Maryland to be tested. Results: Lymphnodes are clear, thyroid had cancer on both sides. Ranked 1-4, his was a "1" which is the best we could hope for. Treatment? Radioactive Iodine to burn off any of the cancerous thyroid that they may have missed... scheduled for November 13th...
Oh no, ya don't have to do a double take. They are actually dragging their feet on that too. Big shock! Anyway, his spirits are high and though his neck is still very swollen and he is weak, his sense of humor is still in tack! Rylan, Savannah and I just returned from a four day vacation with Moma and Daddy and Danny. Back to back vacations? Yep! Ain't I lucky? Here is a picture of Rylan on a ???? Tractor!
